Los Angeles-based artist Patrick Martinez examines memory, identity, social justice, cultural hybridity, and the changing LA landscape through a multimedia practice that includes painting, installation, and neon signage. Martinez’s Jaguar Guardian (2024) in the SAMA collection and now on view in Readymade Remix: New Approaches to Familiar Objects draws inspiration from the contemporary urban landscape along with the vibrant murals of the Cacaxtla archaeological site in Central Mexico (650-950 CE).
