Gateway artist Marisa Morán Jahn will share the inspiration behind TIPSY, on view in the Great Hall through November 14, 2027. The site-specific installation draws upon SAMA’s history as the former Lone Star Brewery along with cross-cultural traditions of imbibing spirits that are represented throughout the Museum’s collections. Jahn, who was born in Texas to an Ecuadorian mother and Chinese father, frequently creates artwork that remixes cultural icons to destabilize fixed ideas. Her presentation will situate TIPSY within her broader practice of art and design to explore how shared histories and the concept of play can shift perspectives.
